Purpose: The Nominating Committee shall be responsible
for nominating persons to fill the vacancies on
the Session and the Deacons
Committee Structure: The Nominating Committee shall
consist of two members of the Session, one member from the Board of Deacons and at least four members of the Congregation
not in active service of the Session. The Congregation may elect to create a smaller committee of one Session member and two
from the Congregation.
Term of Membership: The Nominating Committee shall
be elected annually and shall serve no more than three years consecutively.
Requirements of Holding Office for Elders and Deacons:
Men and women from among the active members of the church, giving fair representation to persons of all ages, sex and racial
ethnicity.
Nominating Process Meetings: The Nominating
Committee shall meet in September to determine what vacancies need to be filled and to nominate possible members to fill those
positions.
Members to be nominated will be contacted by a member of the Nominating
Committee to insure he or she will serve. The name of at least one church member to fill each vacancy will be submitted to
the Session for final review.
A meeting in November will firm up the list of persons to be nominated
and the Nominating Committee shall submit a formal report to the Session enumerating the nominees and the positions they are
nominated to fill.
Two weeks prior to the Congregational Meeting, the names of
the nominees will be made known to the Congregation.
At the Congregational Meeting the nominees will be presented
and will be voted on.
Additional duties: At the request of the
Pastor, the Chairman or committee member designee shall attend a meeting with new members and shall describe for those new
members the various committees of the church as well as their duties.
