The overall mission of our Church is the same as the mission of
the Church Universal: to proclaim and celebrate
the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to share in his reconciling work.
Our charge is to bring people into a personal relationship
with Christ and nurture them to Christian maturity
as we also grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord.
Whom do we want to attract? What are the key elements of our
worship services? What is the role of Christian
Education? What is our outreach program? Is there a fellowship program?
How do we accomplish this mission?
To accomplish this, we open
our doors and our hearts to everyone. In Christ's name we seek to reach out to all, especially those in spiritual or physical need, and to the oppressed. We celebrate and glory in the rich diversity of God's people and seek to learn from all as we worship
and interact with each other.
Worship is the center of
our common life. Dignity. integrity, order, beauty, and involvement are the hallmarks of the worship services. The very best music we can provide
is for the sole purpose of enhancing our worship and
glorifying our God. Biblical preaching shall challenge minds, warm hearts, and motivate to service.
As God's witnesses on earth, we recognize our need to learn
and teach his message. Through his Word and Christ's
life, death, and resurrection, we seek to learn
the full meaning of what it means to be a Christian, and Christian Education,
which is a life-long process, is an integral part of our lives together. The Bible is the basis of our studies designed to present the best in classical and contemporary Christian thought. With this background
we strive to understand our society and obtain the knowledge
that will enable us to speak out on issues that bring
hope and healing.
Our goal is being a
servant people to one another putting a special emphasis on the needs of the sick and aging. Being richly blessed, we also encourage proportionate
and systematic giving of our time and financial resources.
We affirm those members who support agencies in the county which
bring justice and show compassion. We commit to educate all members about local needs.
Our wider ministry to the Church and World is primarily through
our Presbytery and those special offerings recognized
by the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A).
Fellowship is a natural by-product
of worshiping, learning, and serving together. Activities
occur periodically in a variety of settings for the sheer joy of being together.
This Mission Statement is a work in progress. We must never lose
sight of the basic mission of being followers of Christ,
to be open to new directions, and leading by example of the Holy Spirit.
